PSU problem?

Hey guys,

So I bought some hardware off OCUK but opted not to get a PSU since I had one from my last build. Anyway, parts arrive and everything is plugged in. However the fans from all the components (including the PSU) spin for 2-3 seconds, stop and start again for the same amount of time. There is no light from the motherboard.

So do you think the PSU is toast? This is from jump-starting it with a screw driver btw as I haven't yet put the gear into the case.

What is the make / model of the PSU?

Are all the power connections connected to the motherboard including the 4 or 8 pin for cpu power (often gets missed).

Also try with doing a CMOS reset and with only one memory module installed.

Please list the full spec it might be the motherboard might need a BIOS update to handle the cpu.

1. It's a Corsair CX500.

2. Yep, all connected.

3. The motherboard doesn't seem to be turned on as there is no light.

Anyway, the spec is:

powercolor r9 270

intel g328k

gigabyte z97p z97

corsair xms3 dd3 memory 4gb

Thanks for your replies, however I think's obvious the PSU is the one playing up as I looked up the warranty and it's 3 years, around the same amount of time when I purchased it. If not though, I'll be very upset lol.

Keep in mind you need to send it to Holland though which will cost more than half of what the psu is worth. Personally I would buy one from a better brand. The Superflower units have their entire warranty with OCUK.

Have you checked the pins on the motherboard in case some are bent?
