Thinking about a future upgrade, either i5 or i7.

I have an Enermax Liberty 500w in my current rig and it has caused me no hassle at all - very impressed with it. However people opinions on whether this PSU would be up the challenge of an i5/i7 set up with 2x 5770's and possible 2-4 HDDs.

I'm looking at the Corsair 850W which is currently on 'This Week Only'. However if I can still use my original PSU it will save me a nice sum of money.

a 750w at least for your spec, a 500w would bottleneck your system by a lot. get the corsair just encase or find another 750~

I'd say no, two 5770's take about 390W when at full load and an i5 takes 170W when at full load, thats not even overclocked. When overclocked it takes about 200+ and the i7 quite a bit more. I'd recommend getting a 650W from a good brand like Corsair with decent amperage on the 12V rails, that will run it perfect. 850W is overkill.

Does anyone know how much power the Asus P6T would consume in a maximum situation?

Generally only a keyboard, mouse, possibly a usb pen drive and maybe Iphone attached via USB ports.

So far I've calculated
graphics cards - approx. 120w
CPU - approx 130w
up to 4 HDDs - 10w a piece - 50w to be on the safe side
fans/cooling - 50w

It might be possible to use my existing 500w supply unless the MB is juicy
