Any had any experience with the Coolermaster iGreen 600w PSU's? I have found that there rather cheap for a 600watt coolermaster so I am just wondereing why really!

Thank you all

Hi Op

I checked out some reviews and the PSU does sound OK. 83-87% efficiency is sweet for the (v. low) price:
Cooler Master iGreen 600W Power Supply review

Price affects build quality and this in turn will affect how rapidly the capacitors (and other components) in the PSU degrade each year. The net result of this effect is the PSU will support a lower maximum load each year. So a cheaper PSU will not last as long as better built PSU (i.e. premium components, beefer heatsink, etc.), generally has a greater potential to be DOA, has a shorter warranty, etc. :(

My PC Power & Cooling PSU will cope with a 10% brownout. A cheaper PSU may pass on reduced voltages to the system components - potentially leading to a system crash. It is advisable to run your system off a UPS anyway (I do) - unless it is for casual use only!!

Coolermaster make good PSUs, I've been running an iGreen 500W for the past couple of years and it hasn't missed a beat.

I have an I-Green 600W, it's not as quiet as either of my Corsair HXs but it's been fine. The only 'issue' I have had is that it won't power a X1950XTX in one of my systems (reboots under any 3D stress/idling for more than 20 minutes), yet it can power a 8800GTX fine in the same system. The XTX works fine in other systems, so I wasn't sure what was happening there :p

The coolermaster is £56.21 inc VAT(free postage). The OCZ is £61.99 inc VAT(not free postage).

I'm not so much bothered about saving the 5 pounds or whatever, just more concerned which is quieter, better etc etc.

Both brand new by the way!

Also just found:
Coolermaster Silent Pro Modular 700W, £80 posted, but it is 2nd hand. Still has warrenty card un filled in apparently.
and...
COOLERMASTER M700 MODULAR 700W £70 posted, also 2nd hand.

Thank you very much by the way guys, I know very little about PSU's so your all helping me understand!

Ok just spoke to the guy selling the the Coolermaster Silent Pro Modular 700w. He lives near me so I dont have to pay postage. So is only £65. Think I should go for this then?

Now I've heard it all!! Mind you the XTX was pre- the X1950 die shrink - but still a 8800GTX = heavy power draw (just been building up a rig with 2x in SLI).
