Hi,

I currently have the system that I have build myself. It was first system that I put together myself. I am not expert in custom build PC's, hence I need your help guys. Here is what I have now :

AntecP183 Case
Intel i7 [email protected] + custom radiator cooler with a fan
Asus Rampage Gene II
G.Skill F3-12800Cl 6Gb (3x2Gb) @ 1066Mhz
Powercolor Radeon HD 5870 PS++
IIyama ProLiteE2407HDSD
2x500Gb Samsung HDD HD502HJ working in RAID1
Corsair HX650W PSU.

It is about 3 years old and I wouldn't be changing it, if not the annoying issue with memory not being recognised properly at the system start. I have to turn it off and on again every time for PC to realise it has 6Gb onboard. Sometimes system would crash because of the memory (blue screen). I tried to stress test it and never found any issues with memory this way. Thinking it might be PSU or motherboard but I never bothered giving it to service. Anyways CPU fan is also coming up with an error now (although temp stay low)and it's spinning slowly and I am just fed up...as I feel my PC is crashing too much overall and I have no time/resources to get it to work properly (or just too lazy).

I am building my new gaming PC and decided to buy the following :

i7 4770K 3,5Ghz
MSI Z87 G45 Gaming
Corsair Vengeance Pro Series 16GB DDR3 2133Mhz (2x8Gb)
Samsung 250GB 840 Evo
MSI Geforce GTX 780Ti
new Benq XL2411T monitor

I am already scared of the total cost, but hey ho, I want it to last for 4-5 years minimium.

My question is whether that PSU I have is going to be sufficient to power my new system. If yes, I am also worried that it might have something to do with my system stability. If it is something I can check easily please let me know.

Please also feel free to comment on my components choice, maybe you can save me some money...

Many many many thanks.

The PSU should be fine. If this is just a gaming rig, drop down to 8gb RAM (more is unnecessary) and get yourself this motherboard: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-477-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=2574

By the way, the i7 930 is still a good CPU. If you overclock it a bit more, the step to a 4770k won't be a huge one.

Oh, thanks about that motherboard info. I saw in various comparisons it was faster than MSI that I chose but I never though it would actually be cheaper. I guess it would make sense to change the GPU to Gigabyte after that. BTW There is Inno3D, Gigabyte, MSI, EVGA, Gainward, KFA2 780Ti in similar price and I have no clue which one might be the best.

The reference models are all the same in terms of performance, so no worries there.

As for other ways to differentiate, I know KFA2 have a UK-based returns service. Not sure about the rest, but OcUK have some kind of express RMA service deal with Gainward. I think with MSI the warranty is not voided if you remove the stock cooler.
