Hey guys, ive recently taken the plunge and bought an R9 280 non X version and was hoping to shoe horn it into my system without changing anything, but upon reading maybe ive made a mistake with the PSU i have currently.
Apparently it needs 600W min and something about the amps on the rails (confusing).

So my system is a 3570k at stock, Z77X-D3H, 8gb Kingston Hyper X, Xonar Xense sound card (12v powered) 2 Sata 3.5" hdds, 1 dvd drive, 1 fan controller powering 4 fans, Corsair H60 - and obviously the R9 280 tomorrow.

All running off an Antec Truepower New 550w - is it enough?

Thats alright then, will it be ok to overclock on, XFX state it should be a min of 600-750w, was getting quite worried i had made a massive mistake, dont fancy screwing the whole system over.

PSU requirements are often waaay over estimated, you will not push 550w on a single card.

I've been running a 3770 + 7950 on a 450w and not even hit the limit on that.

Something that is worth keeping in mind when buying a PSU, check the wattage across the 12v rails. Your 750w bargain PSU might sound great, but it's no good if it can only provide 350w of that across the right rails.

Awesome, i can breath easy now, cheers guys feel much better now, i will in time upgrade it for future proofing or if i decide to crossfire the 280.
