Hi, ive bought a new graphics card for my machine, but im not sure if the PSU is up to the job. What would happen if I put the card in & the PSU couldnt cope? Would the pc just not boot, or would it do some damage to my machine?
Thanks

What PSU and what graphics card?

At best it won't boot/restart your PC once the rails get shakey
At worst do some damage to your hardware.

If i had the slightest feeling it wouldn't be up to the job i'd replace it with something that is.

I don't think so. If it's a decent brand, but just not powerful then the worst that'll happen is probably the odd restart.

If you've got a decent brand PSU you may as well give it a go first. If it's no good, get a new one.

If you've got a cheapo PSU then it's definitely worth getting a good PSU. :)

thanks for the advice guys. I guess im just being impatient really...got my new g card and I wanna use it, but think i'll wait and order a better psu if it may cause problems...dont really wanna risk it!
