Hi guys

I have a corsair hx 620watt psu. just wondered is it suitable for powering the new ati 4870x2 graphics card? As the graphics card requires an 8 pin power adapter. i can see that i have a 6pin pci connecter with 2 leading off it. Is this suitable?

thanks

The Corsair will allow you to use the 4870 X2 with no problems. As for the 8pin PCI-E lead, if it's a newer version of the PSU then you will have the 8 pin otherwise you can get this from Corsair for free if needed.

thanks. i think mine is the old version. is about a year old now. if the 6 and 2 pin version works fine then i think i shall use that :)

If you have the 6+2 pin then its the newer one. I have a older hx620 knocking around and that only have 2x 6pin PCI-E cables, I do not have a 8pin or a 6+2pin. If you have the 6+2pin then you are good to go mate!

The x2 takes one 8pin and 1 6pin btw, you should have both.

yep thats what u wanted to know. cheers buddy! was thinking of getting the 4870x2 maybe next month or december. is there going to be better graphics cards released for christmas or after for about the same price tho?
