Hi ive recently upgraded my rig to the following but kept my HX520w corsair psu which is 5 years old.

Gigabyte z77-D3H
[email protected]
8 gig cosair XMS3 ram
1 x gigabyte 7950 @1150mhz,1600mhz
Samsung 256gb ssd
waterpump that uses 24 watts
2 seagate 500gb hd
1 seagate 2gb

My question is should i replace my psu if so what wattage and make should i go for and how much should i spend ?

Psu will be grand, with a similair rig im drawing 330w at the wall in game, thats including the monitor. My hx850w seems somewhat overkill now.

Is 5 years not increasing the risk of it failing ? It does get quite hot to the touch under full load after a hour just worried that its pushing it too far.

Nowadays how common is it that a psu will go bad and take out you rig ?
Where do you stand if you've spent say 1k on a new rig and the psu fails and takes it all out is that money down the drain?

I should be ok as it does have overload protection, but nothing is 100% certain.

If you do want a new PSU what sort of budget do you have?

Do you want it ready for a possible future crossfire setup?

Just a thought that if you are thinking of adding another gfx at some point and do change make sure you buy one with enough for 2 cards (700+ I believe) :)
