evening all

quick psu question for you all.

the coolermaster silent pro 700w I have currently has developed a loud unhealthly sounding fan, to the point where it can be heard over the rest of the system.

There is 2 and a bit months of warranty left, so will cooler master actually entertain a RMA as the rest of the PSU appears working.

so anyway, assuming RMA im will have to:

a: install old corsair 620w psu (not used for best part of five years but used for at least 3 before that) - will this drive an 2600k & 780gtx?

b: buy a new psu, sell the replaced PSU if i get one. If so recommendations please.

most of my current spec is in the sig + 2 ssd, 1 other drive, 4-5 case fans, one cpu fan.

CM should replace or repair the PSU yes, since it has become defective and is still in warranty. :)

Also your old Corsair 620W PSU will be fine for running your 2600K and GTX780 as long as you don't go doing anything silly like running CPU & GPU stress tests at the same time.

I'd personally submit an RMA request, use the 620W until the replacement/repaired PSU arrives, then swap them back again. :)

Whatever remains of the original warranty unless stated otherwise I believe.

If the product is now discontinued and you get an equivalent replacement model i'm not sure how that would work but I assume it would be the same.

Thanks for the input, are cm likely to tell me (or OCUK) what they have actually done, or just send back?

It being the 1st I assume ocuk are in business today, does anyone know if support are working too, or just sales.?

Cooler Master Silent Pro M700 is now discontinued. So if you do get an M700 back, then I think it is more likely that they will have repaired your original unit. If they replace it then it is likely to be replaced with a Silent Pro M2 720W.

Which I believe received a fairly positive review at SPCR.

Hi Lollox,

This indeed looks like a RMA case.

The Silent Pro Series have 5 years of warranty, if you have the PSU shorter than 2 years you need to contact the vendor where you bought it.
After those 2 years you can contact our RMA department directly by following this link http://support.coolermaster.com/anonymous_requests/new

If your PSU can not be repaired and that type is not available anymore, you will receive a PSU with similar specs, the warranty time of that replacement PSU will remain for the period you have left on the old PSU.
