I have a corsair TX 850 running a 3700x am4 not OC
power color 6700XT fighter gfx, currently standard no OC max temps seen were 90oC @junction
Plenty of air flow in case

Been getting a few crashes to Desk, psu must be well over 10 years old now only happens on Destiny 2.ALL other games and benchmarks/stress test ALWAYS have passed
Game files have been tested and passed as has SSD games are on
NOW i have a backup psu which is a EVGA 600W 80 plus,BUT this is quite old too at least 6 years i reckon but has not seen more than50 hours powered on MAX
Would this psu run my gaming rig?even as a trial.don`t want to remove old psu and try this one if no good
opinions please or should i buy a new psu?what one if so at around £100 if possible :)

A crash to desktop with a power warning in the driver? Just wondering why you think it is the PSU?

This wouldn't usually be a symptom I'd connect with power, because typically the system would just shut down or reset, if it was tripping.

I think I worded it wrong
It shuts down the game and goes to steam menu
Weirdly I only seems to go with destiny no other game or stress trips it shut .was thinking of trying the 600 watt PSU to see if that stops it .will have a look at the error logs later :)

PSU's do degrade over time. I'm not certain that a 10 year old 850Watt PSU would degrade by 200 watts though, as a 6700XT specs a 650 watter. Your rig should play that game without issue so have a search to see if there are any issues playing that game on Steam.

Replacing said PSU on a like for like basis for your budget will be tricky. If you stepped down to a 750 watter then I suggest this at its offer price of 95 notes.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £105.49 (includes delivery: £10.50)

Well i just finished a 2 hour session and no crashes
Damn thing is sooo intermittent, can go weeks without a problem then bamm a couple of times a day.As it is only this one game it all points to it being a game issue but did not find any issues reported online:confused:
I'm happy to be proved wrong, but that really doesn't sound like a psu problem to me.
Yeah cannot find where i got the psu from or how old but has got to be over 10 years,i got it to run 2x r270 back in the day i think i remember

Blutaked a 80mm fan to the psu inside the main case,`seems`to fix it fingers crossed
Air from psu during gaming feels quite hot to me but psu fan is working properly, psu is drawing cooler air from bottom of case as well....weird
