Hello there,
I'm currently in the process of pricing up bits for a new machine and have picked a nice durable board http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-126-GI. The confusing part is which type of DDR2-1066 to choose. It seems that the JDEC standard is 1.8v however the kind of ram sold on OcUK is often 2.0v or higher. Does anyone have any recommendations for 4G of ram that they will know will work with the GA-EP-43-XXXXX range of boards? I don't mind if the voltage is a little bit higher but it would be preferable for the automatic settings (SPD) in the sticks to just work with the BIOS without having to tweak it or set it manually. I also worry my board won't be able to drive 2.2v sticks?
A second quandary I have is which PSU to buy. It seems that buying a PSU in this day and age is often highly influenced by your choice of graphics card. I have opted for a Gainward Golden Sample (216) GTX 260 which is described as needing a minimum of 36a on the 12v rail. Do you think you could recommend a PSU that would meet that requirement but also power:
Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L (integrated LAN + soundcard)
Intel E8500
4GB 1066 RAM
Antec 300 case fans
Gainward GeForce GTX 260 Golden Sample
2 x Samsung Spinpoint 1TB HDD
PCI Wireless card
USB Printer
USB Webcam
USB scanner
USB laser mouse
USB keyboard
Microphone
This system will not be overclocked and so I felt the E8500 offered good value. My proposed PSU is an OCZ StealthXStream 600 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-023-OC but I just don't know if a.) the GTX 260 will be getting enough AMPs and b.) if the overall wattage would be sufficient to power all those components. If my suggested PSU doesn't meet both a and b, could you suggest something you know will?
All advice gratefully received and considered, thank you!
