After upgrading from a 7950 boost to a r9 290 I've been having lots of problems with freezes and lock-ups. Suspected it was something to do with the PSU (OCZ ZS 750W, bought for cheap at PC World) so swapped it out for an old Corsair TX650 (v1) and the problems have decreased dramatically. However, they haven't gone away completely, which makes me inclined to invest a a new PSU. Can someone please recommend a PSU for the following system?

R9 290
Maximus V Gene
8GB Samsung Green
Samsung 830
3 TB HDD
6*120mm fans

Btw, the 290 is cooled with a Prolimatech Mk26 and two Apache 120mm fans. Load temps ~70C, although VRM1 reaches ~100C.

Many thanks.

Many thanks for the replies. I've tried just about everything, tbh - underclocking, voltage increase/decrease, power limits, reseating the card, trying different power leads, trying different driver versions, setting custom fan profiles... It seems I've had breakthrough though - after updating the MB BIOS I changed the legacy setting to enabled and haven't had a problem for the last few hours! After a little research I discovered the Club3D forums have a rep. stating "We know that there has been some issues with motherboards using the UEFI boot mode with these cards. Please make sure that you can request a new BIOS update on the motherboard to support this graphic card. Normally booting on Legacy mode will not have issues like you describe."

... and so far he's correct! Hope this helps some of the other guys out there having similar problems with the 290 series.
