I currently have an OCZ GameXStream 700W Power Supply Unit , but I have brought new items, and want to make sure its enough, or do I need to get a new one?

The OCZ one is 8 months old, and has done little work, running an old AMD 3500+ on an ABIT AV8 MoBo with a back then whooping kick arse 6800U Grafix card lol

I notice its says SLI ready and I currently will use 1 x 4870x2 but when they come down in price, I will probably use two so hopefully this PUS is suitable?

Now I have brought the following, please have a look, tell me what you think

Antec 1200 Case
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2
Asus P5Q Pro Intel P45 MoBo
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775)
Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x2GB) Supplied with Airflow Fan
Samsung Spinpoint 1TB HD
ASUS DVD writer

The Antec 1200 has a shed load of fans on it, and I might add 2 x SATA from my old system but not sure if they will slow it down????

any advice guys before I have to spend yet more money lol

Ok mate cool, I tried to message you, but it wouldnt let me?

You've got an Antec 1200 dont u?

Mines arrived, havent got it out the box yet, what do you have your fans set at? Is there an easy way to change them, can u link them to a controller?

Chris

Havent tried linking to a controller tbh, but theyre pretty easy, the front 3 have their own knob on them, the back and top are controlled by a panel at the top of the rear of the case, above the I/O ports. Mine run on medium, Ive also bought an extra one for the side panel, so it blows directly onto the gfx cards, I just used the akasa's from here

The PSU is powerful enough for 2 4870X2's, but it might be close.
The thing i would be more wary about would be the amount of connections that comes with it

Don't try and run two 4870 X2s on that power supply. Please. That's certainly not what they had in mind when they chose to advertise it as SLI ready...

Well im going to be getting the Corsair 1000w so that should be enough :)

I did note the connection issues, whether it had enough, and the 2 x 4870x2 at some point might e pushing it!

Anyone any views on Fan Controllers outta interest?

Guys the Corsair PSU fell through, an reommendations please?

1000w if poss, nice tidy cables a MUST and round one not ribbons lol ;)

Chris

"where can u get a corsair for that price?"

Shop around it not that hard fella to use google :p, however ocuk prices seem to get better as the weeks go on, might even start ordering my customers builds from them before long if they keep it up :D

Your OCZ GameXStream 700W Power Supply is already ideal, you do not need a new PSU.

The system you made up won't use more than 500w peak (400w on constant full load). It will need around 34-36A on the 12V.

I'm not sure how the 4 18A rails on the GameXStream 700W are split, but combined it should be able to deal with a 40A load comfortably.

the reason for the 1000w was because I think it would be pushing it in a couple of months if I added another 4870 x2 so wanted to get the Corsair 1000w, I cannot find it anywhere for the £133 mentioned, so if you could EMAIL me the site?

[email protected]

Is the £133 FULL price or excludin VAT?

Keep an eye on the exchange rate.

If you think it's gonna get worse, aka weaker pound, buy now.
If you think it's gonna get better it you may get a better deal later on.

You'll need a PSU with 65A (12v)/ 800W+ rating.

Yeah i would also like the link for this £133 1000w corsair as i can't find it anywhere using multiple searches including google product finder although that has to be excluding vat at the very least i cannot see anyone selling it for that price including vat..

A) Theyre were prob winding you up, or due to exchande rate you cant get it at that now anyway
B) Its against forum rules to link to competitors so no ones going to, and stop asking

Dont think it was a wind up mate, im sure that he was genuine, but I assumed it was not inc the VAT anyways

If they were overseas ones it wouldnt be worth it for the import charges lol :)
