PSU Replacement Kettle Lead

Hi,

My PSU's kettle lead is a 13A 250v. Can I replace it with a 5A 250v lead? The PSU is a Corsair RM850x and the system is generally pretty power hungry.

I've seen a lot of conflicting advice - people saying any kettle lead will do, and others saying a 13A fuse lead needs to be replaced in kind.

13A would be my choice

1 amp is equal to 240 watts in the uk.

Is that to say 1 amp requires 240 watts and that a 5A fuse is capable of supplying up to a 1200w PSU?

Yes 1 amp supplies 240 watts so 5 amps can supply up to 1200 watts before the fuse blows.
