I'm looking to replace my Antec True Power 430W. It's about 4 years old now and is rather noisey.

I've seen the Hiper 425W which seems a very reasonable price, I don't have a great amount to spend as I'm looking to upgrade slightly.

My current set-up is:

C2D 2140 @ 2.36GHz (8x295)
2x1GB OCZ PC6400
Asrock DualCore-VSTA
7800GS AGP
Antec 430W

Looking to upgrade motherboard and GFX to
Gigabyte GA-P31-DS3L Intel P31 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Sparkle GeForce 9600 GT 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

I've already pushed my expenses with the above, so I can't afford too much on the PSU :(.

So is the Hiper up to the job? Or shall I just get quiet 80mm & 92mm fans and replace the ones in my True Power?

How much have you got for a PSU?

Hiper have been through a bad patch in recent times having huge problems with RMA in this country and especially on OcUK. You will notice lots of threads reporting failures if you have a search. I'm not sure what the state of things are now but I wouldn't invest in them If I were you. I wouldn't have the confidence.

Yea, I did a quick search and saw a few bad threads.

To be honest I love my true power, it's never let me down and I've braided it too.

Unfortunately, £35 is my limit for a PSU. I'm starting to think I might just get a 3870XT and replace the fans in my PSU.

If you can stretch it a few quid more you could get the Akasa Ultra Quiet 400W for the £40 mark and little bit more still gets you an extra 100W with a OCZ StealthXStream 500w Silent. But like SPW says, you don't have a lot of options in that price-range!

Hmm, might be an option I suppose. Just over £200 will get me the 9600GT, DS3L and OCZ 500W. Even with £9 p&p OcUK are some damn competitive!

I was hoping to keep things down as much as possible so that I could get a Vostro 1700 with 8600GT :D.
