The Antec True430P (430W) in the following system has failed:

A64 3200+
256MB X800 Pro
2 x 512MB DDR
1 x 500GB SATA1
1 x 120GB SATA1
1 x DVD/CDRW
1 x DVD-RW
1 x floppy
1 x PCI TV tuner
1 x USB printer
1 x USB webcam

1. What power output PSU should I purchase?
2. Please recommend a silent modular unit.

Many thanks!

My Antec NeoHE 550W is silent and modular. They do lower powered versions too, the 380W is only £44, 430W for £52, 500W for £64, or 550W for £70.

Fantastic PSU so far. :)

Is your Antec still within warranty? If so you could presumably send it off for a replacement.

If you want a new PSU and a different brand then the Corsair HX 520w is a good PSU for around £70 although you could quite easily get away with less than that. :)

Thanks for the replies lads.

I don't think the Antec PSU is within warranty but it's worth a try!

This PC belongs to a friend of mine. I've got a Corsair HX 520w myself (awesome power pack) and will recommend he gets one as well.

I've ordered a Corsair 620w as a replacement but have been running the machine on a (temp) 300w generic psu.

The PC turned off on its own and now won't come back on. When I try to power it up the GPU and CPU fans fire up and then go off.

What's the likelihood that that mobo/system has fried or blown up? :o

I had an antec truepower 430w literally blow up my board, memory, soundcard and cd rom on my last pc!

Heard some horror stories about them.

Thanks but the board was fine - antec died.

The system won't fire up with the temp 300w now... bring on the Corsair (fingers mega crossed).
