PSU RMA question

hey guys,

psu is making a clicking/knocking noise at regular intervals and I have decided to RMA it as it is really annoying and have tried to stop it

Basically I was wondering if I will be ok to RMA for a refund/exchange if I have done this:

In an attempt to remove the 24 pin wires to braid I snapped 2 of them away from the pins and have now soldered them back to the pins.

Is this a breach of warranty or will I get away with it and everything should go fine with the RMA

thought i may off

looks like the covers are coming off tommoro to try and fix it then

eny sugestions as to what may be causing the problem?

i dont think it is the fan as it comes in intervals of 30seconds-2mins

dodgy relay?

Honestly, I suggest that you don't start opening up that PSU and trying to repair it yourself. The PSU will still contain HIGH VOLTAGES in it's capacitors so I would not suggest you start poking around inside and trying to re-solder anything you see. You risk destroying the other components in your PC as well as giving youself an electric shock should you try and re-fit it afterwards. It may be the fan bearings that are not right and so the fan may need replaced but unless you know the exact fan requirments for a replacement and are a skilled electrician that knows what he is doing I suggest that you simply call it a day with that PSU and throw it out.
