Hi,

Back in 2007 I bought a Corsair HX620w PSU and it stopped working the other day, I remembered I had a 5 year warranty on it so great I thought!

Left an RMA request and it got approved!

but now I've had an e-mail from Corsair stating I've got to ship the product to the Netherlands. Now I'm a bit put off by this as I thought if it was under warranty they would have to pay for shipping etc?

I've no idea how much it's going to cost to return it but I'd imagine it'll cost a bit.

What options do I have?

Are they liable to fix it and include shipping costs or do I have to shell out Postage to the NL?

Cheers

Just did a check with parcel force and It'd cost me £35.99 to send it to them which is really too much, I would've thought sending this would come under their expenses as it's a problem that has developed during the warranty being active.

No idea if this would include return postage either.

i think you have to pay for the postage to NL, they will most likely send you out a new PSU, perhaps someone else could shed some light here as im sure someone else here has rmad a corsair psu

Sinny Will You Let me no the outcome of this us i am in an identical situation with the same psu i didnt no what to do so i just bought a new one but i still got the psu at home and its still in warranty.

That really is what I'm thinking at the moment, it's coming up as a bit too much to send so I've sent them a ticket and see how they respond. I'm not paying for 2 way postage.

I sent mine and yes 100% you have to pay postage to them not the return they pay return and I found interparcel cheaper than parcel 2 go.
£18

Cheers mate, much appreciated.

got a bit worried I'd be paying £35.99 :O.

never done RMA before, do you just order it to be collected from your house?

I'm in an indentical situation. Indentical PSU, but this time it's the 2nd one I've had that's failed. I'm going to ask their customer support if they can compensate me, but I doubt it. Interparcel is the way to go I think too, and they will ship a brand new unit to you, I believe that is their policy.

btw it's asking me for a weight, should I put it rounded to 3kg as it's 2.4?

Hey at least you don't have to send the psu across to california (USA, not Norfolk!) like the ram!

Corsair did seem to have a "fluffy" batch of psu's last year, parcel 2 go/interparcel were used by a lot of forum members iirc, and I think everyone got a brand spanker back.

Nice to know cheers

Top notch PSU until it died, just a pain to send it all that way..

Thought the 5 year warranty would have saved me but obviously not :D, ahh well. Cheers for the help ^ Aboves.

the only RMA i have had to do which did not incurr me any costs was the return of my ACER laptop. DHL collected it and returned it to me 3 times at Acers expense (sent it back 3 times for same problem, faulty DVD rom).

The mobo i sent back to OC cost me about 10 pounds, i returned a HDD to western digital, which cost me.

but on both ocassions, they paid for the return postage.

Acer's RMA system is probably the worst I've ever used. As part of a business we sold many Acer desktop machines, of which a high number had to be returned. The process took up to 3 months for some, and one had to go back 3 times as it was not fixed. We got a working machine back a year after it was bought!

Now to RMA that Corsair...

I am in the exact same situation with the exact same PSU model. Though I bought another PSU as I could not be without my PC. Will most probably get round to RMA'ing it in the next month or so.

Yea if you use interparcel a ups van comes round dependant on which service you use I just went for the cheapest which was £18 it's probably more now.

coming up as DHL Euro plus which is £15 inc VAT.

Think I'm just going to wrap it in brown wrapping paper as I cant find any boxes with padding the right size. shouldn't be too much of a problem (hopefully).

How long did it take to get back to you?

Send it in the original box ! inside another box preferably brown with the rma numbers clearly marked, they send you back a completely new sealed unit straight away they don't try to fix it.

You wont need padding just take the box and wrap brown cardboard around and tape up if need be.

I sent mine on a tuesday got the replacement back on the following tuesday.

Las q.. Honest :D.

Do I need to send all the cables back as well? Dont really fancy routing my way through the watercooling to get all the modular cables out. or is it just the PSU I need to send them?

Ok, I was just about to start a thread on a similar, topic but this one is close enough so I'll temporarily hijack if that's OK :P

My bros Corsair PSU died earlier in the week (also a 620 funnily enough), it's still in warranty but he has no invoice anymore.

Do you need proof of purchase to RMA or just the serial number on the unit?
