PSU RMA?

Ok, I was just about to start a thread on a similar, topic but this one is close enough so I'll temporarily hijack if that's OK :P

My bros Corsair PSU died earlier in the week (also a 620 funnily enough), it's still in warranty but he has no invoice anymore.

Do you need proof of purchase to RMA or just the serial number on the unit?

You dont need either, just enter the date of when you purchased it with a description of whats wrong with it and they should reply with "Approved or "Denied" etc.

sent mine back the other day - it cost me £30 to send to Holland but I was happy because I got a brand new one. I had owned the previous one for 2 years.

Las q.. Honest :D.

Do I need to send all the cables back as well? Dont really fancy routing my way through the watercooling to get all the modular cables out. or is it just the PSU I need to send them?

everything that came with it the cables the unit everything ! lol

I've only ever had to send back the original unit, not including all the cables, literally just the PSU on it's own, at least, that's what they wanted last time. With most RMAs in fact, you just send back the item itself, they're not interested in the accessories.

Speak to the retailer you purchased the Corsair PSU from, not sure if OcUK does this but another retailer will let you return Corsair PSU's directly to the retailer then they will forward the PSU to Corsair in NL for the full duration of the warranty whether its 5 or 7 years, they will only do thisif you actually purchased the PSU from them obviously. :)

This is the only thing that puts me off Corsair PSU's i.e. RMA expense to NL, I bought my Seasonic knowing I can return it to Nanopoint in the UK which will work out a lot cheaper if I ever needed to RMA.

Well I just got

"30/07/2009 18:33:00 Eindhoven REC'VR ADDRESS INCORRECT"

so I've no idea what to do now, I printed off the slip corsair sent me which had their address on it.

I've just got my RMA approval, bit nervous about sending it off now though.

Good luck with yours Sinny.

Hey Geck

I googled "REC'VR ADDRESS INCORRECT" and found someone else, using interparcel and DHL to send a package to spain is experienced the exact same message so I dont know if it's an error or what but it sounds dodgy to me.

I'll wait until the morrow to see whats happened, As long as the lot/house number is on the package and post code I dont see why It cannot be delivered.

I'll post asap tommorow to keep you informed Geck, it might just be it was late and the courier didn't have time to delivery it but anywho, sometime tommorow morning I'll post here.

Sinny

Well it was delivered, I'm guessing that as it went through a sorting maching it didn't recognise an address.

but atleast it got there.

Just bought the Corsair HX750W and though it is working great, this thread worries me a little as it is covered for 7 years, and though the return costs are much cheaper than a new unit, it is still a lot more than returning a unit to the UK, and if it was not the correct address given, posting again would not be an option. In 0ver 20 years of being a PC nut, I have never had a power supply die on me, perhaps I have been lucky so did not consider the problem of where it went for replacement if it failed.

Well I have no idea why mine went. Was working fine one niht, went to bed and wouldn't turn on the next day (yes I changed the socket fuse, tried differant sockets, connected the 24 pin ATX green and black wires etc) and no luck.

It was a very cool PSU while it was operationable and was used too much imo as it was nearly always on. but 5 years warranty and cost me £20 with £100 insurance to deliver to NL.

put it this way, power supplies will always cost over £70 for a decent high wattage PSU so spending a nice amount of money on one that will be covered for 5 years~(in your case 7!) is well worth it regardless of where it's going to (within reason).

£20 is a lot healthier on my wallet than £70+, it's just that I'm pretty poor at the moment :D.

In future though think I'll check where you RMA the items to in case of failure.

Glad to hear it worked out ok Sinny, did you send back all your cables or just the main unit? I'm a bit worried about sending back a full set and only getting a few back.

Otherwise it's all ready to be boxed up and sent, new PSU here I (well my brother) come!

Got a brand spanking new one today :D.

took 5 days all in all from me sending it last wednesday to me recieving it today, they must ship one out when they recieved mine.

Glad to hear it all worked out ok, 5 days is a damn quick RMA.

This looks like good news for me too, I posted it on Monday and by the looks of the tracking it arrived today.
