Hi All,

Due to the reduce in GTX 280 prices I have been very tempted. Only Gainward ones left now and I understand they dont have the 8 pin pcie converter.

Currently I have a Corsair HX620w with 2 x 6+2 pcie connects, I know the card will need 1 x 8 pin and 1 x 6, can I use the 6+2 and the standard 6 pin?

I remember seeing something about only using a true 8 pin connector, somthing about the way its fits in the case of the card?

Anyone know what im bangin on about lol.

Cheers,
Krib.

You would just need a converter i worst case scenario. Not an expensive component, your PSU is more than up to the job and thats the main thing.

Doesn't 6+2=8, so can you not stick 1x 6+2 into the 8 Pin socket of the card, then detach the other 2 from the other 6+2 Pin, then plug that into the cards 6 Pin socket.

Yea thats the 1 Loadsa, the thing was though I read somewhere before that you had to use a true 8 pin connecter, something about the position of the clip.

I think that was just the 9800 GX2's that had the clip problem ( as i remember loads of people complaining that they didn't fit), i could be wrong though. :)
