PSU shroud- why?

Nooby question. I have noticed that some cases come with a shroud, some don't, so what are they for? And what are the advantages of having one?

It's mainly aesthetic really, easier to hide the bits you don't want to be seen as much (psu cables, hdd's etc) through a case window.

Can also separate the PSU so it sucks 100% cool air in and then out the back without much warmer air from case getting sucked in not that is matters that much.

Yes mainly cosmetic although I've left mine off as I like the look of my PSU.

Air in bottom of the case is always pretty much the coolest air inside case.

And shroud prevents using bottom far for getting more fresh air for graphics card.
Even airflow of one front fan can get trapped under it doing little good for rest of the case where 90% of heat output is.
