Hi my psu is ocz 1000w zx series just wondered if its a major proplem if it makes a slight squealing noise when underload ( see sig for spec ) fine any other time just when playing games or benching , never heard anything from my old thermaltake psu so am a little worried about this as i dont want to damage anyother componants.

thanks

steve

ah ok cool just read somewhere that it might be a capasitor on its way out or something is arcing inside the psu , will a coil whine shorten the life of the psu ?

It's just the capacitors making the noise when under load, nothing should break/life span shall be fine. It's just the noise which can be annoying after so long.

ok cheers put my mind at rest a bit :) is not that loud and have headphones on when gaming so can live with that just never had it before so was a bit worried

where are you hearing it from? through headphones and speakers or just from outside of the case?

if through the headphones try unplugging the case front panel usb headers from the motherboard

enable vsync for your games aswell, that will reduce the noise as your gpu's run 400+ or something like that fps in games menus hence the squeal(vsync caps the fps at 60)

I've got the same problem with my Corsair AX860, only had it since mid May (bought new). Not loud enough to hear without having the side panel off the case for now but I'm guessing it will get louder over time :(.
