PSU stopped giving power?!

It's definatly the PSU, you're suffering identical problems to mine and all my problems went away when I started using another one. Unfortunatly it might of or has blown your hardware up so it's pretty hard to tell but it just seems pretty obvious seeing that I've put up with the same (but luckily escaping a fried PC)

I noticed the non modular version also does not have an 80mm fan on the back, whereas the modular one has an 80mm as well as the 120? This must seriously hinder the cooling properties of the power supply. Wonder if this is a PSU overheating problem and could be something to do with it cutting out under heavy load?

I doubt it, mine gave in while idle! I actually wished the damn thing died completely then I'd be sure whats the problem.

I'm probably going to just get 20pin-24pin converter and use my old PSU; its not a well known brand but at least its been working for the last year or so!
