PSU Sufficient

Hey All,

I've come across a Dell XE2 MT with i7-4790(non X), 16GB HyperX Fury RAM (4x4GB), 1TB SSD, 1TB 7.5K HDD.

I'm looking at putting an ASUS GTX 1060 6GB DUAL OC graphics card in to the unit but worried the 365W PSU will not be enough. Looking at Overclockers page i can see it recommends a 350W PSU but looking at the Geforce card they recommend a 400W

Can anyone help?

Maybe a 1060 3GB or a 1050TI would be better?

Thanks for the reply. I tend to agree about being close the limit as i may have a external HDD or two attached and that may take me over.

I do want to run games at 1080p but no problem with the settings being on medium as i just want a stable frame rate that is better than my GTX740M i currently use. Would this be a worthy upgrade?

Due to the unit being a Dell PC it has proprietary power sockets on the board. It uses an 8Pin and a 4Pin then the SATA power comes from the motherboard instead of from the PSU.

I can see that the EVGA unit has a 20+4 which i assume would be ok for the 4Pin and a 4+4 which would work for the 8Pin. Am i correct in assuming this?

The PSU currently in has an extra 6Pin (Being an XE2 it has a better PSU than a normal OptiPlex which do not have the extra 6Pin) so it won't be drawing from the PCI-E slot.

I think a 1050ti will be a cheap option and then save for something in the future.

Or would an option be to get the EVGA PSU with a moddiy 24-Pin to 8-Pin adapter (https://www.moddiy.com/products/Del...24%2dPin-to-8%2dPin-Adapter-Cable-(30cm).html) connector and use 1 of the 4+4 Pins for the separate 4 pin? Theoretically i believe this would work but not sure.
