StealthxStream 500W fan always at full pelt, makes a lot of noise idle or not, would like a different PSU 600W+ definitely quiet, longer cables. Suggestions please gogogo

Thanks :p

The CM silent pro series is good, I have used them quite a few times and they don't break the bank.

I personally prefer (and use myself) the Bequiet L8 630W Modular PSU. It's the rival to the CM silent pro 600W, it has a lil more power and the cables are braided which makes the inside of the case look tidier. I got mine from here but currently OCuk aren't stocking Bequiet PSUs which is a shame :(

I'll post a selection of PSUs here to consider.....

Oh, a surprising number of good replies indeed. Thanks for the responses everyone.

I went and had a look at the reviews for all of the ones you said and I think I'll either go for the CM Silent Pro 600, or bump up the budget a bit and get a Corsair TX650M.

I probably don't need that much more power for a future single card set up get up. Thanks for the responses again. I'll be glad not to hear my PSU again ;)

Weird how the fan is always on at full speed though. Strange manufacturing fault on OCZ's part, a few years ago.

I don't know if they're available here, but I would highly recommend BeQuiet PSUs.

Rock solid in terms of performance, reliability and quality, and as the name suggests, they're bloody quiet. I had a Dark Power Pro 650w in my old rig and it was near silent :)

I'd recommend an XFX power supply if it wasn't for the noise which mine has - drives me mad. If I had to do it again, I would've spent the extra £20 and gone for one from the corsair AX range.

Ah yes, I was wondering where those had gone from OcUKs stock! I'll hold off any purchase until someone can confirm if the PSUs will come back. The Dark Rock Pro cooler has recently come back into stock so there is hope yet.

I bought mine from here too, albeit over 2 years ago!

What are the OCZ PSUs like? Looking at getting the modular 550w one

I'll say mine has FUNCTIONED well as a PSU. However the fault with mine is that it's always at full fan speed. Otherwise it would have been great. The new ones have this issue fixed, I believe.

I have taken note of the issues with some XFX PSUs.

Hope someone from OcUK sees this thread and can respond in relation to the availability of BeQuiet PSUs, if not I'll send a question in their support forum.
