hi i had a psu that when i powered off it kept spinning for a while to take the rest of the hot air out the case. Is there anything that does this on todays market? thanks

Good PSUs don't get hot air build up. :)

And you shouldn't be using a PSU to expel hot air from the rest of the system

Lol where do think all the hot air goes after turning the system off, it dosent just turn to cool air. A psu the spins the fan after the sytem if off will get rid of hot in from the case faster then one without.

Just make sure you put it somewhere you're not likely to spill anything on it :o

I always figured that "case" was for testers to swap components in and out rather than anyone to actually use.

LOL yes it does. Cold is the absence of heat :p if you don't have anything generating heat it will immediately start to cool. Also air from outside will enter the case and hot air will expel anyway. Which makes me wonder why cases don't have vents in the top (suppose it's to stop dust but still....)

Hehe i meant it does't turn to cool air that instant the pc is turned off my own fault. But your right it will start to cool my point was will take longer without a psu fan :D

The antec cases look very nice imo mate go for it

remember, a gentle cooldown is actually BETTER for hardware than rapid temperature changes as it produces less thermal stress on conections ;)
tho tbh, it shouldnt make the slightest difference in a desktop machine. laptops suffer more from the rapid thermal cycling due to useage paterns and deep power saving at idle giving a large swing from full load to full idle power useage..

You shouldn't really be using your PSU as an extra case fan. :)
One day bottom fitting PSU cases will be standard (I hope) ^^

And as it has already been said here, once the PC has powered down the heat can only go down, so it's a rather pointless waste of power.

what if the psu is at the bottom of the case??

doesnt really matter if the psu is at the bottom of the case because its a complete gimmick anyway. As above, the temp can only go down after its turned off, there's absolutely no need to make any effort to cool it down faster.

Yep my be quiet keeps on spining for about 10mins after i switch off my pc. I didn't no that it did this until i had to connect it to my other computer and i could see the fan still on. I could always hear a weird nosie coming from it but couldn't see it as i have an antec 1200 case and the psu was a the bottom.
