Currently I'm planning to upgrade my ageing athlon xp system to a c2d system. The PSU i'm currently running is a thermaltake purepower480w 'butterfly'. Should I scrap this and buy a new one or will I be able to use this with current motherboards etc? It has sata power connectors but would I need convertors from the 20 pin connector to a new 24 pin motherboard and also to power a pcie graphics card? If so is it worth the effort or better to just buy a brand new PSU which seems a bit of a waste for the thermaltake as it runs quiet and has been reliable. The current plan for upgrade is E2180, Ga-P31-Ds3l, 2GB Geil PC6400, X1950pro and a 500GB sata HDD. Cheers for any help with this.

should be fine, check the spec for it to make sure it has at least 25A on the 12v rail, should be on a label on it or on the manufacturers website.

I've found a review that suggests it only supports 17A on the 12V rail so it looks like I need a new PSU as well, cheers for the advice.
