Hi guys,

I'm planning on upgrading a few things to my computer (see sig)

New Case - Coolermaster HAF
CPU - E8500 or Q9550
Graphics Card - GTX295
PSU - ?

due to my motherboard having 2 very close sli slots i want the most powerful graphics card for a single slot hense im saving for a GTX295. What PSU would be powerful enough to power this graphics card? Also this will be my final upgrade for this computer as ill be building a new i7 comp from scratch later next year so i dont need to have anything futureproof just enough to do the job, Would be nice if its pretty quiet aswell.

any other recommendation would be welcome too :)

Thanks.

thanks for the responses.

I was looking at that Coolermaster Real Power 700w but also the Coolermaster Silent Pro Modular 700W :) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-165-CM&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1103

I see the Silent Pro has - Two 6+2 PCI-E connectors.. which is ok?

is there any real differences between these two, which would be better you think?

Yo, also interested me because I'm looking for a new PSU too. Reviews here....I'd say the Real Power is better.

thanks reflux for the links... real power one looks pretty good. still not sure as many other recommendations.

is 600w 620w enough juice for a quad and a GTX295 and say 4 harddrives?
is there any real difference with have 1 dedicated 12volt rail over the "real powers" multiple rails? i dont want to find out the GTX295 will be underpowered or struggling.

If the corsair 750 was modular that would be a near the top of the list.

OCZ im not sure on im heard various reports on it some good and some bad. Id rather pay a tad more and get a premium make. then again my hiper is meant to be cack but its served me well hmmm lol

what about a http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-001-PP&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1104 ?

hmmm decisions decisions

so far the list is...

Coolermaster Real Power 700w
Corsair 750w
PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750w
Zalman 700w

which one would you choose for my intended setup?

When choosing a PSU, always buy a more powerful one than required. This will allow for future upgrades. Most decent PSUs are guaranteed for 3+ years so imagine what your system will be in 3 years time. For this reason I have just purchased a Zalman ZM850 HP.

It’s a fantastic PSU very stable, quiet but slightly longer than a standard PSU.

Hope this is of help to you.

Matt

Around 300W peak draw for dual core, 330-340W with quad.
HX520 is well enough.

Would normally recommend Corsair but as you want modular and their only modular psu above 620w is 1000 then i'd recommend:
ocz modxstream pro 700w
blinged ripple bombs not enough anymore?

And you'll need to install this into your car just in case you take couple passengers onto back seat and need to tow whole town:
