Hello. I recently made a forum topic a couple of months ago regarding a graphics card upgrade.

I was told that I would need a new power supply to support it and my other computer components, this is what was recommended:

Corsair CX 430W V2 to support primarily my graphics card.

My entire computer spec:

Intel Core i3 540@ 3.07GHz 2.93GHz
Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H Motherboard
New RAM - 8GB RAM DDR3
500GB Hard drive
New GPU - OcUK HD 6850 OC 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
64Bit Windows 7
1920x1080 resolution Logik TV/Monitor
Razer Lycosa Keyboard
Razer Deathadder Mouse
Build-in sound card, low quality speaker set

I would like to know if the PSU is sufficient for my spec before I make a final decision.

That PSU will be good for that spec:)

The OCUK 6850 will likely need two 6pin PCi-E connectors as its actually a ASUS card I believe, it comes with a molex to PCi-E adapter as the CX430 PSU only has a single 6pin, if you want a PSU with two of the connectors and not having to use an adapter,

So, would I be able to pickup a typical 2x 6-Pin PCI-E Power connector inside a computer store?

Also, I assume that PCI-E 8 Pin Connector doesn't work for the GPU?

Sorry to hi-jack a bit, why the Corsair 500W over the XFX 450W you usually recommend? They are rated the same on the 12V rail.

Also I think OCUK should update the page of the 500W builder series, as it states 1 PCIe when it has two - I'll post in the relevant section

It was recommended to me, also I was looking for a GPU at around 80quid but was told to upgrade my PSU to run it, as a result I decided to opt for the cheaper product. It's also reviewed highly but primarily it was out of ignorance of the 500W.

Its a good little PSU, also never skimp on the PSU quality, up to you.

1) use a molex adapter with a cheaper PSU
2) Spend more on a better unit with more PCI-E connectors which gives you a "neater" look

So why do it?

Didn't seem worth opening another thread. Don't worry.
Although, if the XFX will do the job, and is in reality similar wattage, doesn't seem worth the bit extra for the Corsair - but you must have a reason for choosing it.
The XFX also seems to have longer warranty!

Yeah I know not to skimp, I didn't do enough research on the PSU but thanks for letting me know, will check it out.
