Hey

I currently have an EVGA 850 G3 with some custom cables. I'd like to upgrade to a Titanium version, specifically the SuperNOVA 850 T2 850 W 80+ Titanium. My question is, does this use the same pin layout as the G3 or will I need a new set of cables?

Why do you feel the need to "upgrade" from what you have? Are you having issues with shutdowns or something?

Regardless, you're not really gaining anything meaningful with a "Titanium" power supply other than a lot of added cost in most cases. You'd never save enough money with the added efficiency over a good gold rated unit unless you're getting it for a damned good price. I can't even find it available anywhere in the UK either, unless you're looking at second hand?

SPL's tier list suggests they're both made by Superflower, so I'd imagine there's a chance the pinout is the same.

The fan on this PSU is rather loud, even in Eco mode so I was hoping a Titanium PSU might reduce that?

A "Titanium" PSU wont reduce noise levels magically, it's reliant on the fan and other factors (heatsinks etc) more than anything. A good gold unit will manage just fine, do you have a budget in mind?

Also, absolutely do not take that advice from @hornetstinger. Unless you're confident/experienced with electronics it can be very dangerous to open up a PSU, some of the capacitors have the potential of carrying a lethal charge.

At this point, I would only consider a switch to an ATX 3.x model, like Antec's HCG Pro.

THG noted in their review that your PSU has an overly aggressive fan profile, but noise is not a common feature of gold rated PSUs.
