Time has come to move onto a modular PSU.

My Spec:

Q6600 overclocked
P5B
8800 GTS overclocked
2Gb Ram
3x Optical
5x 500gb HDD
Water cooled - 2 DDC Ultra Pumps + 5 case Fans.

I have used The Web version of the PSU calculator and i get recommended 811w PSU. The thing is my friend has the Enermax 850w and says he can hear the fans. Not a problem but i want the quietest possible as i run all fans at 7v.

What PSU would you guys recommend. I have been told this would still be fine.

Thanks in advance

Those PSU calculators are mostly wrong, and dont take everything into account properly.
I think youd be well off with a corsair 620w psu.

Oh, looks like im not the first to recommend it ! go for it lol

you do have a lot of drives but still 811watts seems a lot to me them psu calculaors allways seem to over estimate

i think the crosaire 620ill run that fine im sure i seen one of them runnig sli 8800s aswell.

sure someone else can confirm.

Yea will most deffenitly power that, probs GTX SLi aswell, dunno but might even do 2900XT Crossfire :p

The HX620 will do the job good, if you wish then spend the extra on the Seasonic 700W, it has abit more wattage and an extra 18A +12V Rail.

corsair psu's are made in the same place as seasonic, so the seasonic 700w modular is basically a 700w version of the hx620, im sure 620w is enough though.

The 700W has 4x 12V rails whilst the 620W has 3x, but yea the HX620 is still enough.

Many thanks again. The 620w is nice price also, that's my choice so sleep on it tonight and order 2mra. Cheers
