Got a Tagan 430w PSU running a Core 2 Duo E6600 OC'd + X1900 XTX and have noticed the voltages seem really out?

-12v = -16.97v - hmm
-5v = -8.58v - hmm
+5v = 5.21v - ok
+3.3v = 3.36v - ok
+5v = 4.97v - ok
+12v = 1.86v <- this has to be incorrect reading

That was with speedfan.

Only way to be 100% sure if they are correct/incorrect is to use a multimeter.I would'nt be trusting speedfan to give you 100% accurate readings,as said above, bios may give you a better idea

Ignore what speedfan says, this is what it and everest say on my DS4:

In short, use a different program. :)

Might want to have the PSU looked at tbh. :p Yeah, I thought my PSU was falling to pieces recently, but it turned out to be speedfan lying. I popped down town and bought a multimeter for £10 (Was one available for £6 as well) and rechecked the voltages. They turned out to be perfectly within spec.

The -5v and -12v rails do nothing anymore and are only included for backwards compatibility (like 10 year old PCs) so it can still get an ATX certificate. Don't worry about these.

The 12v reading is clearly just the wrong signal. The PC wouldn't boot if that were the real reading.

The other rails are only out by a bit and measurement by on-board chips (including BIOS and software) are normally pretty inaccurate. As mentioned, check with a multi-meter if you are worried.

Bottom line is, if the machine is stable, who cares?

Note that most people here believe that your system should be toast as the PSU is ONLY 430w. As you've proved, you don't need that much juice.

Ummm i just ran that speedfan program, and im abit worried about the Temps its giving me.. Idk if this is speedfan giving false readings or what

Is there anyother free programs what i can download to check temps ?
