Anyone know whether a Corsair HX 520W PSU would be enough to power an E2180 & 8800GT, or would, for example, the more expensive 620W be required? If I was to upgrade to a Q6600 at some later date, would the PSU still be able to cope? Thnx.

OK, thanks for the replies, guys. Much appreciated. Think I'm getting a bit carried away seeing some of the PSUs that some people use :)

Well they are very highly rated, and are meant to be really quiet, I'm guessing most people get them because of the modular cabling system though :p

Ahh but one thing to note, if you upgrade to some kind of 8800GTX Q6600 monster, it would need at least 500w (This is where the 620w psu comes in).

At http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-118-AS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=877 it recommends 500-600w psu.

That is mainly down to manufacturers trying to cover their backs, 500w isn't strictly necessary but since not all PSUs are created equal it gives a baseline to aim for. I'd still much prefer to trust an Enermax 400w (for example) than a generic 600w unit with quad core and an 8800GTX.

I have a wall plug power monitor and the most that has ever recorded on my pc is 353watts(as in sig below). About 15% of that is loss in efficiency.
Just spend as much as you can as you start paying for smooth stable voltages rather than stupidly high claim peak powers.
