Hey all was rebuilding my loop today and whilst testing for leaks my psu blew big time. Lovely blue flash if I may add.

Well I need i 550w plus psu (modular preffered) so any recommendations for a silentish supply?

Also I usually just short the relevant psu pins to test, do ocuk actually sell the proper pin bridges? Always worry about sticking a paper clip in their to test it?

Get the one in my sig. Excellent PSU and you won't hear it unless you stick you ear hole slap bang next to it (seriously)!

I used to run an antec 550w cant remember the model. But i run a q6700 couple of hardrives and a very old 8800 ultra, plus a modded swiftech loop.

Been a long time since I bought a psu though kinda surprised at the expense of them now, sure I only paid about 40 quid for my antec when I bought it. Seems I need to pay at least 80 quid now for a good psu...................

Peak draw around 300W
Check Corsair HX, Enermax Modu or Seasonic M12 from around 500W.
I'm not entirely sure are Antec NeoPowers sold with older NeoHE name but that's also good PSU. (Antec revised that serie)

Without modular cables there are also some other choises.

I used to run an antec 550w
TruePower or TrueControl?
Probably just Fuhjyyu capacitor expiring...

I had a hard drive that burst into flames (well, a flame came out the bottom of it about an inch and a half high anyway lol) once. Found a hard drive at work in a cupboard and decided to liberate it. After switching a DVD drive from a Mac to a PC (after a bit of messing about with it) I decided to try what was likely to be a Mac hard drive in my PC at home. Set the jumpers, connected it, turned my PC on and WOOF! Bloody great big flame came out the bottom of it (and luckily it was upside down and outside my case lol). Nearly pooed myself lolololol

If you are tight like me and possibly want to consider sli in future, then go for the Corsair 650W instead of a more expensive modular psu. Cable management just simply is not a problem for me, so I dont see why I should pay more for less.
