PSU which way up

Have recently built a new rig with an emermax modular PSU in a PC-7+.
Currently the PSU fan points downwards, wouldn't really fit the other way, however this leaves a small gap on the backing plate to the case.
I guess it would be possible to turn it round otherway if i put it in from the inside.
So which way should it really go, and does it matter if i've got it wrong way?

Mine fan is facing down and its fine.
 
The fan should point downwards and yes it will matter if it's the wrong way round.The PSU fan sucks air away from the CPU,blows this air over its own heatsink arrangement before exhausting it from the back.Having the fan point the other ways means it...well...won't do that...which is bad m'kay :D
 
The atx psu mounting mechanism should only allow the psu to go one way otherwise the screw holes won't line up.

LISTEN TO THIS MAN - HE KNOWS WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT. THE FAN FACES DOWN END OF STORY - You'll mess up the whole airflow of a standard ATX case unless the fan faces down. There are some exceptions (Lian Li cases) but most of the time EXRAYTED's view is absolutely correct. ;)
