PSU whine?

I just build this for my lounge......

AMD Athlon X2 265 3.3Ghz
Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H
2x Corsair CM2X2048-6400C5 800Mhz 2048MB 5-5-5-18
BFG 9600 GT OC 512MB
Gigabyte GZ-M1 Black Micro ATX
Hiper Type R 480W
Samsung HD501LJ 500GB
Samsung SH-D163C Black, 48x CD-ROM 16x DVD-ROM
ASUS XONAR DG Sound Card

....and its started making a whining noise which changes pitch as I use the computer. I think it might be the PSU or the GPU, which is more likely? Is 480W enough for this system? Any suggestions on how I could test and diagnose the problem?

Thanks in advance.

I should mention that the PSU was second hand and fairly well used. As was the GPU ;)

WARNING: That Hiper psu is lethal, a ticking time bomb, had two of them, both died, one killed the pc, other one caught fire & it nearly burnt down my workshop..

Many others peeps have had problems with the Hiper Type R 480w & 580w.
Replace it asap.

it is capacitor whining ,change the psu, because it will soon your kill your hardware.

I'm pretty sure you can rule out GPU whine.

Oh dear. Can you please recommend a good (yet cheap) replacement? Thanks for the heads up.

The whine by itself isn't indicative of a failing PSU, it's simply a coil or coils vibrating in resonance with something else, either another coil or the fast switching of the power supply.

Still even saying that it's probably best to replace that Hiper.

One has a 2 year warranty & other has a 3 year warranty, read a few reviews & then decide, but I do prefer Corsair.
