Hey guys, just finished my build and have noticed a very high pitch squeal/whine while the PC is on standby which I can see getting pretty annoying!

Not had a PSU do this before so does anyone know what might be causing it?

It's a EVGA Supernova 750w G2

Thanks

Oh wow, sorry didn't read that it's when the PC is on standby!

Never heard of this before tbh, perhaps someone else can provide some insight. Ideally, I'd be RMA'ing that PSU back to EVGA/the retailor you bought it from ASAP as it really shouldn't be happening

If it's making the noise whilst on standby then it's very likely to be the PSU.

It is possible treat coil whine in a PSU but I'd be hesitant to recommend that as it can be a bit dodgy if you haven't opened a PSU before. You'd also void your warranty.

If its loud then it should be replaceable under warranty. It's quite unusual for this to happen whilst the PC is on standby so I think you'd stand a very good chance of getting a replacement.

Cheers guys, literally only received yesterday from ocuk. Spent hours today managing cables so what do you think are the chances of me being able to send back just the unit without cables?

Really don't fancy pulling apart the whole system!
