Hey guys, sorry to keep posting threads about my shopping around for a PSU but I have more detailed specs to ask ye more knowledgeable folks about

Can you help me please,
I have a 9800GTX+ that states on the BFG site, under REQUIREMENTS:
'475W PCI Express®-compliant system power supply with a combined 12V current rating of 26A or more (Minimum system power requirement based on a PC configured with an Intel Core®2 Duo E6750 processor)'

The PSU I am looking at is HERE, and on the site http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/product.php?id=MTIzNw== it gives the tech specs for power output etc, but i dont really know much about it,

can someone tell me whether the Antec 550 Basiq will provide the 12V rating of 26A or more?

Thanks!

Just read elsewhere that the 9800GTX+ pulls 150something Watts under load which means 13 amps, and it runs on a 12V rail or something? So therefore the Antec PSU should be ok seeing as though the Antec says 12V1, 2 and 3 range max 22, 22 and 25A, and OCP set point 36A. I dont know what any of these mean but i think it seems alright now

You will be fine, im running SLi GTX260's off that PSU along with a pair of U320 15K drives and the usual system bits

Thanks everyone, I am going for the Antec Basiq 550, just waiting for DHL to deliver my new PC case i got off ebay haha then I'm off down to overclockers to pick up that PSU :)
I live locally so saves on postage haha, although don't you get it free if you use the forums?

Hey again guys,
I was about to go to Overclockers shop to buy the Antec 550W PSU but they were out of stock,

just noticed this COOLERMASTER GX 550 PSU for a few quid more,

which is best?

The Antec is modular and the coolermaster isnt, BUT the coolermaster is 80 plus and I think I'd prefer that to the modular, there's always cable ties.
However, the Coolermaster has 3 4pin plugs and i have 3 fans, and the Antec has 6. Can you get splitters?

Just seen another thread on the same thing. I'd go for the 80 plus to be honest, the cables can be tucked away somewhere and there is splitters available. If you give me a second i'll have a look to see what OC have available and link you :)

Shhh footyfan93, that IS my thread... haha i know it's annoying but I had these open before so i posted the same thing to my older threads. Thanks mate it's brilliant to have you helping

If you take a look on here theyre plenty of cable. I'm not sure which one exactly you would need but i'm sure one of them will suit your need.

Hope that helps.

So do you reckon the Coolermaster is the way to go cos the 80plus?
I like that.
They've both got enough of everything else except i think the Antec has 3 effective 12V rails that run at something like 23A, where as the Coolermaster has 1 12v rail pushing somthing like 46A in total.
It's so darn confusing

I'm not too sure on ampages and stuff like that when it comes to PSU's but I think the Coolermaster is the one to go for seeing as its more efficient, meaning it's going to be better value for money I guess :).

When the Antec efficiency is now as far as i can see comparable with the 80plus coolermaster, I'm going for the antec.
Tuesday It shall be mine and finally i'll get that darn 9800gtx running.
Thanks so much everyone for all your help it's brilliant.
