Can I also say I originally had a QTEC SPU, but due to buying a new £180 PCI-E X1800XT I was scared the thing would blow, have I doen right and finally bought a decent PSU?

FSP PSU's are very reliable and stable.

whats your current psu? if you have a good psu currently then maby you can assist it by using something like this: http://www.thermaltake.com/product/Power/PurePower/w0099/w0099.asp

it has 2x12v rails with total of 21a available between the 2 which is enough for crossfire/sli setup.
