Hey,

See thats there are a lot of thread today about blown PSU, adn surprise surprise, i belive that mine went today aswell lol!! as luck would have it!!
Well taking it to a computer shop tomz to much sure, but maybe someone here might be able to help! went to turn my computer on today and the PSU and case fan spun once and front panel lights flashed then dead, tryed again and nothing, so went close up to the machine and smelt a tiny bit of burning, but did't think much of it (BUT NOW!!). so when i try to turn it on fans spin but not the CPU fan and theres CD and Hard drive activity, but does not really turn on. DOES THIS SOUND LIKE A BLOWN PSU OR WORSE??

(the only reason i ask is if the PSU is blowen why would power still come through it)

cheers

PSU often gives sound indicator but it could crap out also without any explosions.
(what PSU you have?)

Also some other component like motherboard could have shorted, PSU giving power to fans and drives hints that PSU is operating.
So would be good to open side panel and look for obvious burn marks in motherboard.

I have a corsair 650w PSU! have checked the motherbroad no obvs sign of burn marks. GOD i hope its the PSU and the other stuff is fine lol!! here comes my long awaited expensive paper weight lol!!:(

Also if the mobo was fried would lights and power still run through it?
