hey all :)

i was thinking of upgrading to phenom 9950 or 9850 in the future at the moment i have

amd x2 5000+ BE @ 3.1
4gb ddr2
8800gt @ 700/1000/1750
asus m2r32 mvp motherboard
2 hardrives
antec 900 case with 2 cold cathodes
1 optical drive
and antec true power PSU 550w

so my current cpu is rated at 65w if i upgrade to phenom 9950 which is at 140w will there be a problem with my psu? just need to make sure before choosing cpu :) thanks for anyhelp

my setup in my sig draws around 300w to 400w so your psu is more than enough.the new 9950 is only 125w.the old one is 140w so make sure you get the new Agena Core revision DR-B3.

You should be fine, its not just about wattage though, its also the amps that come off the rail(s), but antec are quite good make so you shouldnt have any problems

If it's TruePower Trio then it's good, if it's non-trio then it's ticking Fuhjyyu time bomb.

Peak draw will be around 270-280W.
