Hey i heard somewhere that when it comes to the 12v Rail on you're PSU there is a +/-5% margin and when it gets out of that its time to start thinking about something more powerful. My +12v is fluctuating between 11.4 and 11.8 and i'm wondering if this means i may need to start thinking about a new PSU I am currently using a 450w PSU that came with my EZCOOL MIDI BLK Case.

Welcome to the forums. It sounds rather like a generic supply so it might be worth considering a new PSU, remember that software readings of voltages are often inaccurate but I've got my doubts that the PSU is good to begin with.

What sort of system do you have and what is your budget for a new PSU?

hmm

I'm Using

nVidia GeForce 9800 GT 512mb
AMD Athlon X2 X64 6000 3.1ghz
Akasa AK-967 Nero Direct Contact Heatpipe CPU Cooler
FOX-MCP61SM2MA AM2 Mb 61SM2MA
Hitachi 160gb Sata 2 8mb 7200
Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX (2x2GB)

I'd prefere to keep within the range of £80-£150
want something powerfuller and reliable.

And yes the one i'm using is the generic.

The BeQuiet Darkpower 650w, Corsair HX 620w, Seasonic M12 600w and Tagan Piperock 700w are all modular and in your price range. PC Power & Cooling 750w is also a good choice in the price range but not modular.

Modular just means that you can remove power cables that you do not need so the system can be neater (i.e. if you only need one molex cable then you only connect one, you don't have the four attached that you would normally or whatever) and it may improve airflow because your case is tidier.

EZCool... what a trusty brand...

Peak draw of those parts is around 230-250W so already Corsair VX450 would be enough.
And I would recommend avoiding above 600W PSUs for keeping most meaningful (PC idles most of the time) efficiency good... Seasonic M12D being about only exception which can retain high efficiency down to percentually small loads.

Tagan Piperock 700w are all modular and in your price range.
And there's exactly zero reason to trust those bling-bling-kaboom pipebombs when quality dropped to sewer through cracks in floor in favour of easy to sell bling-bling:

I've had the EZCOOL for a year and theres been absolutely no problems with it what so ever.... im just thinking its time for an upgrade LoL
