Hi guy's just been trying speedfan to see if i can get to bottom of my problem with freezing lagging juttery play etc.How accurate is speedfan?
Has it say's my +12.volt is @ 11.36v my +5v 3.6 then went to 1.5v?
But when i restarted pc as speedfab stopped working/froze with cpu@100%.but temps stayed low?
Bios on my asus formula rampage cives me +3.3v @3.152/[email protected]/[email protected] so not sure whats going on? plus speedfan came up with SMbus error/clicked off? etc.with a $ sign and digits

Speedfan is very accurate and widely accepted as a decent tool.

What PSU do you have mate?

If you look here:

http://www.formfactors.org/developer\specs\atx2_2.pdf

you'll see the permitted difference (+/-) of each rail in your PSU. If those readings are way off, they can cause major stability issues and even damage hardware. This could also just as easily be a windows problem.

That said, sometimes BIOSes can be very inaccurate in their readings so here's what I suggest:
1) - Run the WD Datalifeguard tools to check your HDD - bad disks can cause lock ups.
2) - Update your BIOS (New version "0902" is available from Asus website.)
3) - reinstall windows on bare minimum hardware (leave all extra HDD, optical etc unplugged)
4) - look at replacing your PSU

Hi andy i think it's a Newton? the pc's an alienware area51 r4.it's what comes with it.1000 watt.
Ive been using Active H'D scan as been getting bad lag/jerkiness in cod4.
Reformatted and reinstalled in feb.as was also having problem with G19 keyboard which they replaced.
My readings in active for H.D's vary on spinup speed 82-87%.for raptor.ive only that one plugged in atmo has moved game onto that from others to see if made better?nope.
How do you find asus probe2 to be? when i was using that i'm sure that said it was low aswell but uninstalled it as keep getting violation error?
Anyway thank you for repling promptly.
Ps what do you recommend to replace it with ifso?.
As this sits at top of case so either needs to vent from bottom or front don't think enough space or suitable to top vent psu?but will check to see if room.

Hi just had a quick look at pdf file.my psu is ciru 2006/7.did have a 680i installed and plugged straight into the formula rampage.Has 4 Gpu plugs.

Hi andy they are part of are delta/tec? and also make antec ones been having a root round and some reckon it's quite well spec'd/made when looked inside.
but anyway i.m sitting here with multi meter and 5v is @5.14v. 12v was @12.06v. 3.3v @3.28v.probed 24pin plug on mobo. plus left probes in end of 4pin plug with 2 blacks and red and yellow cable.which is where i.m getting my 5v reading's.
funny things is speedfan don't show up 5v now did at first yest then lost so uninstalled it redid tonight but still not showing? but 12v is @11.35v so somethings not right?
did see somewhere about updating it for mobo?
Plus that message i was getting from sp is SMbus msg failed reset at end $2E [$40]
The only other things could be prob is CPU? or the logitech G19 keyboard again with registry rewrites?
Anyway many thanks for replying.I just want to get this sorted so can use properly.

Hi ive just checked multimeter against another one and both give same voltages.
There was one screw left out when they installed mobo down below pci slots.
So put one in.thinking may'be grounding?

I do get some odd things though with cpu needles on G19 screen.one goes right over and other goes back other way? plus others.

Hi if i do need to change needs to be either bottom fan or end to end as there is no room at top of casing.
And 4"x8.5"x6" HxWxD width can be shorter.but the height can't be higher than 4" as thers a bracket running along side of case it sit's on.
