Avoid no-name brands like the plague, stick to a reputable brand.

Your reviews you seen of that OCUK PSU are from people without test equipment, and who think because their simple spec PC boots up the PSU must be great.

Just looked at your possible system spec, whats the PC to be used for?

a lot of gaming, media, video createion. all sorts tbh.
and i want it to be very future proof. might get 6GB ram instead, might be a little bit cheaper

You want to use dual channel RAM, it needs to be in PAIRS for a AMD system

So its 2X2GB = 4GB

Or 2X4GB = 8GB

Yep, get a 2X4GB kit for 8GB - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-290-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517

There is cheaper 8GB kits, but the XMS3 will easily fit under a aftermarket heatsink.

A PhenomII X4 955be - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-244-AM&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=1943

Is a bargain and with the unlocked multiplier will make overclocking childs play.

And if you get a 990 AM3+ chipset motherboard - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=701&catid=1903&subid=2046

You will be future proof for Bulldozer, if its any good.

If your Zalman cooler fits AM2+ etc then it will also go onto a AM3 etc

Stulid while we are on the subject, how far do you reckon a 955 be could be overclocked with the stock cooler? I am planning to get an aftermarket one a bit later on but I am trying to get only necessary things within the budget at the moment to get the most for my money.
