One of those pub discussions. Which company was the first to use door mirror indicator repeaters on a mass production car? I thought it was Merc, but others suggested Honda (amongst others).

Can anyone clear it up? :)

it did come out on hondas first. the legend i think. the JDM (tyte yo) model had it back in the 80s. i used to go to uni with a girl that was a proper honda geek

mercedes had them first, on the S class i believe

indicators on the mirrors are cool and all, but they do make them horrifically expensive if you smash one..
(read volvo v50 = €500)
insurance fraud ***.

S-class didnt get them until 1999. The W210 E had them in 1995, not sure if that's the first ever car to have them though.

I think you're right with the S Class getting them in '98 '99.

Although I am going to shut up now; I only have 17 posts which means a worrying percentage of them has been spent talking about Vectras and indicators!

Not a car, but first vehicle i ever saw them on was a Honda NR750 (1992) :D

I think the W210 only got them in 2001 as part of the facelift.

yeh it did, we had various pre-facelift W210s for a few months in the mid 90s and they were all on the wing

i'm pretty sure it was the W220 because i got a Maisto 1:18 model and remember being interested in the indicators on the mirrors, not having seen it before :p
and the fact the S class usually has everything a few years before other manufacturers even dream of it
