Pub Quiz!

I once did a music round about foreign language songs that have got to number one in the U.K. singles charts, of which there have been five. I said I'd read the English translations of the lyrics and they had to give me the name of the song. I'm not ashamed to admit that the whole round was basically a vehicle for getting away with reading the lyrics to Je t'aime to everyone.

24?

That's a guess based on the following... There are 42 points worth of balls on the table at the start of a game. If you were both terrible but the other guy was marginally more terrible then you'd pot all the reds without any colours, they'd hit reds but wouldn't pot any (so no foul scores) then you'd pot yellow, green, brown to get to 24 points and there would only be 18 left on the table.

Or is it like 0 points if the other person concedes or breaks some arbitrary rule?

22 v 20 maybee

15 reds split 7/8
27 points for colours 14/13

14 + 8 and 13 + 7 22/20

but we will be miles off lol, maybee 0-0 with the 3 missed ball rule.

Oh, please do ?
Spurs play each of the other teams - 4 games. Chelsea play everyone bar Spurs, who they've already played - 3 games. Arsenal play their two games, then West Ham play Palace. Ten games. Then everyone plays the other way.

Or in combinatorics it's 5P2, which is 5!/(5-2)! = 5*4*3!/3! = 5*4 = 20.

Googling turned up this cobblers:

Congrats NedB-H!!!!!!

16 - 8 is the lowest possible score in snooker!! However, unlikely and outrageous- its possible a player could pot all 15 reds in one shot, but go in off. 4 - 0. The opponent could then pot Yellow, Green, Blue and pink, with the other guy just getting the brown.

This means the score sits at 16 - 8 with the black being obsolete!

16 - 8

So I'm a hypothetical world you pot all reds in one shot but also accidentally pot the white. Whoops.

Further on in the same thread people mention the three misses rule, so it's 0-0.

What if you, theoretically, potted all 15 balls off the break but fouled.. ;)

I should read all the replies first eh..

Not 0-0, because the 3 fouls would equate to 4 points each :p

That's a good question; in the sense that people can't google the answer very easily or quickly. As Google has become a bit of a problem in pub quiz's nowadays...

(Maybe not a good question in regards to the impossible to answer bit though :P)

Yeah, questions that really make people think and are google-proof are tricky.

Here's one that surprised me: how many individual islands are there in the UK?

Two for Great Britain and Northern Ireland, one for the Isle of Wight, then probably an assload around the Hebrides and so on.
