Publishing iCal calendar for sharing

I've only had a very brief search via google so apologies for being lazy but is there an easy way to publish a iCal calendar for others to view/subscribe in there own calendar without the use of MobileMe?

I have the same question, but all my research has resulted in zero results

MobileMe seems to be the only way

Hmm how does that work then as thought MobileMe was being phased out with icloud? :confused:

Can you not use a Google account with iCal and then share it using Google calendar?

Looked at the Google option before when setting up the wifes Android phone, whilst it works I found it a bit messy, would rather not have to throw yet another email account (gmail) into the mix.

Not sure how it is messy when you can do exactly what you want transferring all your current ical events into it and then operating it blindly.

Google cal is the best solution to your current and probably future needs.

Worked it out and it couldn't be easier, all I had to do was publish my calendar to my own webspace (iCal pointed to a personal FTP location), and then from my wife's iPad I just setup a subscription to the file via a HTML reference. Will do for now until this whole iCloud thing is up and running.
