ok so i thought id fit a new chrome petrol cap to my pug 106 mk2.

it seems however, that once i have removed the standard 1, that i cannot remove the key from it, basically meaning that i cant use the car as i only have 1 key

can anyone tell me if the key should actually come out, ive tried turning the key in both directions but its seems it doesnt go all the way round

ideas?

Only way of removing the key is to make the old lock think its locked. Maybe try holding the part of the lock that goes into the filler still with a clamp or similar and then "locking" the lock as you would if you were putting the cap back on the car?

Hes right, the key wont come out unless you some how hold the rear part of the cap and turn the key back.

put old filler cap back in as chrome ones look chav, or put old filler back in take key out get 2nd key cut as having just 1 key is kinda stupid incase you lose one then use 2nd key to unlock filler cap and leave it in filler cap (obviously store filler cap in safe place since no one would want to buy a 106 with chav filler cap)so you know where it is when you lose first key. key cutting should be about £8 since you wont need a transponder chip to unlock your filler :P

ok well tbh pointless comment, did i ask for your opinion? no so why did you give it. i asked how to change it, which technically u didnt tell me, so please dont post any more of your comments, oh and fyi im hardly a chav seeing as im into metal and have long hair

anyway, i rang the place that i got it from (ebay shop) and he told me to put existing one in a vice, then push down on it which makes it think its shut

So you asked for advice, which I gave (exactly what you have recieved from the ebay shop), but you thought I was lying? Why else would you get a 2nd opinion?

:(

well i had a go but couldnt get key out :(

It was the first reply, its not like you had to read a lot and might have been skim-reading!

If you can't get it to work, your not securing the right part of the barrel.
