hi guys

thinking about getting some better front speakers for my 206, ive got a JVC SC-601 amp (50wx4) which i hook my iriver up to via line in and also use CDs

the standard speakers are ok, but i cant help thinking some aftermarket ones would sound a fair bit better, can anyone recommend any decent 13cm speakers? there is a seperate tweeter but i will just leave that and replace the woofer

willing to spend about £60 for the pair - will i notice much difference?

thanks

just been looking round halfrauds earlier, saw some infiniti reference 13cm speakers with the centre mounted tweeter...

i dont really want to get a seperate tweeter cos it will involve hacking the panels to bits and i dont think my mum will be too pleased ;)

just not sure if its gonna be £60 well spent

I got some Alpine SPS-171A's for £60 brand new from the well know auction place.

Are you sure you cant take the panels off to get to the tweeters and swap them? The Alpine i bought comes with lots of different adaptors to help you fit them.

Also yes it is £60 very well spent i found for me.

i can get to them easy enough, but i wouldnt have thought they used a universal size like the main speakers

are halfords known for ripping you off then it comes to ICE?

You work a way to fit them then, i fitted tweeters to a car that doesnt come with any as standard. It wont be that hard to work a way.

Yes Halfrauds are known for being so overpriced its stupid, hense the name.

i cant start hacking panels up though... its not my car

i wanted to get the speakers today ideally, dont think there is anywhere else locally apart from halfords :(

these were the ones i was looking at - http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/...nt=&CarSelectorCatalogId=&CarSelectorGroupId=

Mind saying that i've found some prices to be the same as CAD.

CAD can be overpriced also.

Smiley Man,

Its worth going to comps, you wont have to hack up panels really. Have a good look and ask on 206 owners club.

Tweeters are really easy to fit in a 206. The tweeters sit in a little panel on the opposite side, of the glass window, where the wing mirror is. The panel comes off with a pull, and then you can fit a new tweeter very easily, and the wiring just drops down into the main door area, so that you can connect it up to the woofer.
