im trying to re program a remote / key fob for my 106

my car came with 1, managed to unlock it and lock it once, but then it doesnt work, button is missing so u have to press really hard. Anyway i bought another 1 off ebay, looks about 90%the same tbh.

i followed what it says in the manual which basically is

"unlock drivers door, Press button A twice within 30 secs, the second push of the button will lock the car"

ive tried doing that but it doesnt seem to do anything. any ideas why. in the book it shows a remote with 2 buttons, but mine only came with 1 in the first place.

I was of the understanding that the key fobs could only be programmed by dealers. And ive never seen a OEM two button key fob for a 106. But, i could be wrong!

You will need to get it programmed, and its likely that if it isnt a genuine fob then a peugeot garage wont do it.

mac

its a peugeot key fob, got it off the bay, has peugeot sign on the button etc.

i thought u could reprogram it ureself, thats a bit crap.

edit i actually thought the infra red ones, they have the red light you could reprogram, but the radio signal ones had to be taken to a dealer to do

Ahh my bad.

Has the button on the original keyfob gone all manky and soft? If so, just tear it off and use the real button underneath. If it still doesn't work then just get some new batteries for it.

basically the button cover thing on top was never there

all that is there is the actual button

i put 2 new batteries in it, managed to likle unclock it, lock it then unlock it, first 2 were together but the other 1 was a few days later

to get the light on the old 1 to be reasonably bright, i have to push really hard which hurts my thumb

any ideas?

edit, heres a pic of the 1 that came with the car

will post instructions soon! this is a guide for a 306 but should be similar, you may bneed to remove the keyblade from your keyfob so you can do this.

1. Turn on the ignition
2. Within 10 seconds hold the original plip about 8" from the sensor and press either button
3. Within a further 10 seconds do the same for the new plip. (you see why you need a spare key - or remove the blade from the original)
4. Turn off the ignition and test both plips.

however i managed to do this without an original plip with my car, just took a few tries and it now works perfect. Good luck

If he red light on the fob doesnt work then replace the batteries in the fob which are of the button type 2032 3v lithium. You will need two.

ive had a look on a site that does them, and it seems for this type (valeo) they cant be reprogrammed, and that they do after awhile stop working, so maybe thats what happened to my fob that came with the car

ive emailed my local peugeot garage asking about reprogramming etc, see what they say

if they could just reprogram the one i bought for not too much it would be ok

but for a new key with new fob it was £80,

is it a 2 button or 1 button remote

i just tried to do it and nothing happened, did u turn the key 1 notch or 2 for the ignition to be on

i tried with both fobs etc, cant seem to get it to work

is there any type of confirmation that it has worked?

ignition on position 2, and no comfirmation, just try, turn off ignition then try locking doors with it. takes a lot of messing about, well it did with me :)
both of mine were 2 button but all the 2nd button does is deadlock+alarm if you have that

by position 2, is that number 2 out of the 4 ?

eg first is off
2nd - battery ?
3rd battery, windows, fan etc etc
4th engine starts

so u reckon i should get my new remote, and just turn the current key to the correct ignition place, then just press remote 1, and try to see if it locks doors, if not try again. where is the best place to try it to see if it locks and unlocks

found another guide, it all seems very grey area, but it can be done.

steve i take the lights come on when u push the buttons on the fob ?

if you u could try reprograming the key fob ?

heres how:
Key Fob recoding

To program the remote control(s)

The doors must be unlocked
Use the key without the remote control to turn on the ignition (to position A)
Place the remote control key within 4 inches of the receiver (located close to the interior mirror)
Press button 1 or 2 within 10 seconds of turning the ignition.
(if you have two remote controllers)
Press button 1 or 2 within 10 seconds of programming the first one.
Turn the ignition off

check by pressing button 1 on each controller the doors should then lock with key fob 1 and reopen with key fob 2.
You can program up to five fobs
